IMA (abbreviation for Industria Macchine Automatiche) is an Italian company specialized in the design and manufacture of automatic processing and packaging machines for pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food products. It was... founded in 1961 in Ozzano dell'Emilia, in the province of Bologna, in the famous Packaging Valley. The company started with the production of tea bag packaging machines becoming today the world leader in this specific sector. Over the years, the company developed rapidly and also specialized in the pharmaceutical sector, starting to build machines for packaging medicines in blister packs (the so-called blister machines). In the 80's IMA opened several subsidiaries in Europe and United States and acquired several companies (Zanasi, Farmatic, CMS...).
