In 1936 Citizen began to produce the first machine tools but it was only in 1961 that it began to sell the produced lathes. In 1970 Citizen develops the first sliding headstock lathe Cincom D16. Global success arrived and the company opened new factories and branches all over the world. In 2011 Citizen merged with Miyano, another Japanese cnc machine tools manufacturer, creating Citizen Machinery Miyano Co. LTD. In 2015 the group changed its name again to CITIZEN MACHINERY CO., LTD. Today the group produces and markets two main types of CNC lathes worldwide, the fixed head lathes under the Miyano brand and the sliding headstock lathes under Citizen brand.
