The tablet press is a processing machine for compressing powders and forming round or oblong tablets. It is mainly used in the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industry, but we also find... it in the chemical or industrial sector (cleaning products for example). Tablet presses machines can be of two different types: rotary or alternative. Its functioning is relatively simple: the desired amount of powder is introduced into a mould between two punches. The powder is then pressed twice (pre-compression and main compression) at a high force to join the powder together and form the tablet. Once formed, the tablet is ejected and is ready for integrity testing and/or packaging (in blisters, bottles, or other type of containers). The thickness of the tablet is adjusted by positioning the punches according to a graduated scale. As per all processing machinery, all parts in direct contact with the product are made of 316L stainless steel. The tablet press can be bench-top, semi-automatic or automatic, depending on the quantity of tablets to be produced and the different types of formats.
